Crossword puzzles and brain health for seniors

A daily crossword is a familiar, low-cost way to spend quiet time. It does not replace medical care, but many seniors like the mix of memory, words, and routine.

The harder part is often the print, not the clues. Tiny newspaper grids make people stop. Large letters, strong contrast, and a pencil that is easy to hold make it more likely you will finish.

Start with our easy puzzles. Short words and open grids are enough of a workout. Move to medium when you want more filling-in, not because you 'should'.

A short session most days beats a long, tiring one. Ten to twenty minutes with tea is a good target.

If you care for someone with memory changes, sit together. Read clues aloud. Celebrate completed words, and keep the answer key nearby so the puzzle stays fun.

This site is for enjoyment. Talk with a doctor about memory concerns. Puzzles are a pastime, not a treatment.
